April 22, 2010 – Silla Millenium Park, Gyeongju, Korea

Just wondering, can I have a house like that? The Ancient Korean house.

Can I also have a pond with running water from, this time, bird’s mouth? Yeah, that would be very interesting. I will also put a bridge right across my house. Hehe

Where Are You?

April 22, 2010 – Silla Millenium Park, Gyeongju, Korea

Shoot Shoot Shoot. Then…………

“Where’s my mom?” I realized that I had been walking alone for half an hour.

Black and White: Train

April 2010 – South Korea

What most enticed me about South Korea are their 10 subway lines that operate in all major cities. In order to get around the cities, you should have a map of subway lines stations, the best help you can ever have, forget about talking to locals for direction. All subway stations are jam-packed with incredible touch screen ticket vending and deposit refund machines, interactive digital map of the city, whopping maps of the subway station, customer service personnel and boutiques and stores.

Other than advertisements of 2ne1 and memorization of stations of Line 1, 2 and 4, I was also fascinated about the local people inside the subway trains. Above is a photo of a man sleeping while others were trying hard not to sleep despite a stressful day of work.

Cruising

April 2005 – Star Cruise, Thailand

“Finally! My aunt will be here any time soon!” the first thought I had when I heard the news from Mame. When my aunt went back from Boston for a visit, I and my siblings didn’t know what Tita Virgie and Mame were up to.

We had our first travel in Star Cruise Virgo. There are three destinations for a Virgo package: Singapore (cruise port), Malaysia and Thailand.  I still consider our first travel as the best stress-free and exciting travel experience. From then on, we never cease to stop and traveling has become the most daring delight I am always addicted to.

*The photo is from Phuket Thailand, wherein 5 months ago from the day this picture was taken, tsunami killed thousands of Thais and tourists. I have with me (am in pink blouse and blue bandana) my siblings. Starting from right: Lalabonejing, Kuya Pokyo and Ate Lukarit.

Shrimp

April 26, 2010 – Seoul, Korea

Ok, I know, you must be thinking what kind of dish this is or is it a dish at all. This is the hard shell of shrimp, scientifically known as exoskeleton, which forms the head, thorax, and abdomen. Shrimps, or saeu in Korea, living near the water’s surface has exoskeleton often in transparent color, making them less visible to their predators.  They have a high tolerance to toxins in polluted areas, and may contribute to high toxin levels in their predators. Together with prawns, saeu are widely caught and farmed for human consumption.

Saeujeot, a variety of jeotgal (salted fermented Korean cuisine), depends its quality largely on the freshness of the saeu. In warm weather, fishermen may immediately add salt for preliminary preservation.
