Those Roots!

April 2009 – Siem Reap, Cambodia

You should not miss visiting the Ta Prohm temple in Cambodia. I have 3 reasons for saying this:

First, Angkor Wat is one of the 7 wonders of the world. If you’re just going to spend your day in the hotel because it’s hot and dusty in Cambodia, why not exempt a day in Angkor Wat? You dont want to miss one of the distinct places of Mother Earth. Would you? Second, Te Prohm temple is one of the locations of Tomb Raider movie. You may not be a Jolie’s fan but you can ask yourself, “What does this temple has that a hollywood movie flew thousand miles just to shoot some scenes? Third, this temple has Tetrameles nudiflora. What’s that? It is a tree and a specie of Tetramelaceae that has ruined the Ta Phrom temple into broken structures because of its huge roots. This specie can be seen in other countries but not all of them have grown to immense proportions of height and width. You’re going to love those roots once you’ve seen it.

April 27, 2010 – Seoul, Korea

We spent our last lunch in a small eatery within the vast bargain stores and other eateries in Nandaemun. Chinese-influenced countries prepare foods in large bowls. Eateries covered each bowled meal (e.g. noodle, rice meal) with plastic and display them outside with a seller who will persuade people to come inside because they offer good foods at cheaper prices. When the seller realized that we don’t understand them, she pointed to us a signboard that says they have an English menu.

April 21, 2010 – Busan, Korea

In a museum/souvenir shop in Yongdusan Tower, I saw this prototype of The Prince ship use for lumber export from/to Korea in the early times. Korea imports large quantity of lumbers directly from few foreign countries of North and South America and Southeast Asia. Most of these lumbers are manufactured into different products for domestic use and some are reexported to other countries.

K-drama & K-pop

April 25, 2010 – Seoul, Korea

I am a self-confessed fan of K-pop and K-drama (if this is what you call someone who watches drama series in cable). Oh yes, I also confessed in the previous phlogs, I am also a fan of K-cuisine, K-flowers, K-urban, K-weather and everything with K-. =P

I was really happy to see this store in Myeongdong station. I never thought that I will be able to find this kind of store in a country where, as far as my observation with the Korea’s modernization is concern and this is my opinion only, idolizing celebrities is not rampant. Not until I knew the word “netizens” and im likely to be one of them, atleast for the time sake. I was asking the guy in the store for several dvd copies of dramas I really am fond of with a Korean accent (I was jumbling the words, haha). I got my precious Goo Hye Sun’s album for a price same as Philippines’ price. Mame bought an original soundtrack of Queen Seon Deok. If only I got few thousands more, I could have ended buying dvd of Boys Over Flowers.

One that I got really bewildered was a photo magazine of Lee Min Ho (Goo Jun Pyo) for 11000 won. That’s P427.07! Sorry Jelai. You can download his photos from the net.=)

April 10, 2009 – Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam

This is my younger sister, Lala (we nicknamed her as Lalabonejing), wearing a Vietnam flag top. She is really sweet and still a kid at heart. We were in Tan Son Nhat International Airport, the largest airport in Vietnam. The airport closes at 9pm so people need to arrive and check in before the closing time. Although I did enjoyed this spacious airport where I can hide away for a good read or sleep, our flight was 12:30 am. We need to wait for 7 hours! I can finish an entire book and get bored afterward. Haha.
